Taro Jiro Falls

We found these amazing waterfalls, in our subsequent explorations, after failing to see Mt Fuji due to cloud cover (we only rented a car for one day during our stay in Tokyo).

The falls are located in the small town of Tsuru which had narrow streets lined with picturesque homes.
Beautiful gardens in the front and organized ones in the back.
Gourds protected with mesh.

Anyone know what this is? The leaves are HUGE.
Unobtrusive sign to the falls.
The path was misty, lush, and noisy – gurgling water, buzzing cicadas, and chirping birds.

Our walk was punctuated by several trickles of small waterfalls.

The falls are fed by two springs that ultimately originate at Mt Fuji; they fall into the Hishakunagare River.
The path ends at the main attraction – Taro Jiro Falls. Legend states that the falls were named after two outlaw brothers (Taro and Jiro) who jumped to their deaths when police caught up with them.
