Lara’s Quilt

The last couple of weeks, Lara kept disappearing into her room for a secret project. The result of that secret project was revealed this morning.

Adds a nice pop of colour to our couch.

Thanks go to consultants Aunt Mary and Courtney for sharing ideas and stories behind the quilts they made.

These are the lessons she learned for the queen-sized quilt she and I are supposed to be making:

  • We need to measure. She didn’t measure the squares and that made it difficult to sew the blocks together as her squares were all different sizes. Also, the bigger blocks had ‘squiggly’ edges. I wonder where she gets the no-measuring thing from 🤔.
  • We need to find a different way to attach the back side of the quilt to the front as her result was rounded (so the front of the quilt almost flows into the back). She wants edges and 90° corners.

This was another zero-cost project as she used fleece scraps we had in storage and all sorts of different coloured thread she brought home from Grandpa’s house.

  1. That is awesome! There are so many positive reasons to repurpose fabrics. You can never go wrong with a scrappy quilt! Well done!

  2. I’m reading your post about Nolan’s bedroom Reno at the Harrison Park Inn. My reply successfully sent! Therefore I will repeat my reply to Lara’s quilt!
Lara and Felix. A beautiful quilt, great colours, meaningful fabrics! Well done. XO
