We heard about a unique spiral staircase hike (Spirit Rock) from Aunt Mary’s cousin Julie and decided to try it out. The start of the hike was an exploration of the ruins of a 17-room mansion called the Corran (Gaelic for ‘point of land running into the sea’).
Aunt Mary even joined us for the hike. It’s been a few years since the last time she joined us – might’ve been because the last time was incredibly hot, we got a bit lost, and we ran out of food and water 🤣Heading down the staircase, two at a time.At the bottom, we had to navigate some rocks before arriving along the shores of the bay.Enjoying a moment with Aunt Mary! The waters were clear and cool (very refreshing on a hot day!).Pointing out something interesting. There are a number of large boulders to climb along the trail. Aunt Mary patiently waited for the kids to attempt each one 😊
She also took photos for us.Of course, we had to take pictures of her too! We could have continued on the trail, but were hungry for lunch so we headed home.
On the drive home, we stopped to check out a face carved in a tree, and ended up following a trail where we found carvings, fairy doors, and birdhouses. The kids had fun goofing with them.Once we got on the way again, the kids spotted Wiarton Keppel International Airport, so of course, we had to stop to see if there were any takeoffs or landings. We had fortunate timing and one of the staff took us onto the tarmac to watch an executive jet land.We were told to wait on the grass, by this field. The plane has been spotted.Touchdown!
What’s amazing is that we did all that and were home by 3PM!!

It was a great day.
Very interesting excursion. Which Boulder is spirit rock? Is it the one you are all holding underwater?
