Sunday Food

Weekends are important to the kids, not just because there’s no school. They often get fancier breakfasts (crepes or dutch pancakes are frequent), and they make many of the foods themselves.

Neil wanted to recreate the breakfasts we had in Zanzibar. So, flour pancakes, eggs, and fried plantains. In Zanzibar, instead of plantains, it was half a fresh papaya each – the only time Neil’s enjoyed papaya!.
Lara had wanted to make apple pie all week. She and Felix prepped the apples, and then she made the pastry and built the pie.
Ready for the oven.
Dinner was split pea sweet potato soup. The Yorkshire pudding was a spur of the moment thing.
They rose into some funky shapes, and were tender and light.

Lunch (no pictures) was sourdough baguettes with avocado, purple onions, cream cheese, and smoked salmon.

  1. Wow. The Yorkshire puddings look just like what my Mom used to make. What is your recipe?
I bet the apple pie was scrumptious!
