Leith in an RV Bus – RV Features

Neil found an exciting way to visit Leith while still practicing physical distancing … the RV Bus! After much research and the usual comparison spreadsheet, he settled on renting from Fraserway. Bonus – no special license is required to drive it and Neil found a deal where it’s half the price until July 8. Our rental was from July 2 to July 8.

Tricky part is to pack everything we needed for 6 days into the Leaf.
To further reduce our costs on the RV rental, we declined the convenience package and thus packed all our linens, and cooking and cleaning supplies. Of course, we have the usual Leith items like mangoes, PFDs, wetsuits, and some extras like dolly wheels and trapeze harnesses. Neil is a magician when it comes to packing!
Size comparison. We left the Leaf in the lot. Side note, we were able to drive from Toronto to Cookstown and back on a single charge (AC was used only on the return trip).
The kids lounged in the back – buckled in. Behind the Littles is the bathroom with shower, and behind Nolan is the kitchen, with a double sink. At the very back is a King-sized bed surrounded by storage.
Note the height of the ceiling … with the press of a button, a double bed comes down!
The space where Neil is standing looks cramped, but when parked and the slideout is extended, there’s actually tons of room (see below for comparison photo).
I’m convinced he wanted to rent this model purely to be able to drive it!
Kids got to pretend-drive when we switched real drivers.
This little guy was so over-the-moon!
He can’t wait to be 16!
This was a brand new RV – manufactured in March 2019 and we were the first to rent it. Neil was gracious enough to let me have a turn at the wheel! Great timing as I was first to drive the roundabouts 🥳
Look at the amount of space when the slideout is extended!
External view from the back: hookup complete, slideout and awnings extended. We used Aunt Mary’s water and power and drained the grey water (shower and sink) into her hostas, so we only had to pump out the sewage.
Kids were out on the water as soon as we arrived.
With the pandemic, having the whole beach to ourselves was peaceful.
4 heads – watching the sunset in air conditioned luxury! The heat felt more intense than Spain, probably because of the humidity.
The kids determined how they would rotate on the beds – Felix is first on the bunk that comes down at night. It’s a double.
He was quite contented up there. Excellent incentive for him to stay in his bed the whole night.
Nolan’s first two nights was on the sofa converted to a double bed. He sleeps just like his daddy.
Lara got the dining table converted to a single bed. There’s no room to walk between Nolan’s and Lara’s beds with both beds in use.
But when everything’s folded up in the morning, we are back to spacious mode. There’s even an extra table between the driver and passenger seats.
