Apsley

In February of 2019, we spent a long weekend in Apsley, a three hour drive from home. We were able to rent a friend’s cottage by the water. This is the same location that Neil and I visited back in July of 2003. This is not the same cottage back from back then, the owners have rebuilt it. We don’t have pictures of what was here previously, but we do have this one of LL and Jinelle tubing 😊

View of the back of the new cottage from the water.
Panoramic view of the water.
Turkeys visited the cottage daily.
The kids used their snowshoes and cross country skis.
This is the view looking to the right when you come from the back of the house, down the slope to the water.
And this is the view looking to the left.

Following in Daddy’s footsteps.
And it doesn’t take long before he’s asking for a ride.
Looking for 🐟 …?
We spent copious amounts of time in front of this fire with books.
Lara made use of the tub in the landing of the loft.
Felix’s favourite nook when he wanted to be left alone.
One day, we headed to the Kawartha’s Nordic Centre, 10 mins away, for some skiing on groomed trails.
Little helper all suited up 🙂
This is what a rest break and what every evening looks like – everyone is buried in a book.
View from the loft overlooking the living room.
The rafter (or flock) of wild turkeys.
Yum yum … if you can catch one.
We had miles and miles to ourselves.
Sledding.
He’s staying very still so the birds will eat off his hand.
The kids packed their giant stuffies for the trip (this is still back in the minivan days). They’re now dressed up for the drive home.
Leveraging nature and gravity during packing. The red skis are the ones he used to get to school when he was young.
