The kids and two of their friends started a bike club at school and spent the last few months organizing a Bike Rodeo with the help of the school principal (parents stayed out of it).
There were bike and helmet lending stations, an obstacle course, a bike check/repair station, “intersection” where kids learn about road safety and the hand signals. A few kids were even taught how to ride a bike 🙂
Neil was recruited to man the check/repair station.
Nolan and Lara checked helmets, tires and brakes, and fixing as was required.
Off to try out the obstacle course:
Some fun with a clown bike!
Today, they have a final meeting with the principal to determine what could be improved for next year’s Bike Rodeo.
I am speechless. What an amazing event to organize. Fantastic!
Dbike rodeo looks like a good way to promote safe cycling. That tiny wheel bike would pack well. Can you get a unicycle for next year?
The tiny bike is actually our grade 5 teacher’s bike 🙂
