Getting the bikes ready for the big Ride… it takes a long time to tune up five bikes!
- Clean & lube chain, gears, derailleurs, brakes, suspension
- Adjust derailleur hi/lo limits and cable tension
- True wheels as needed
- Tighten brake cables as needed
Plus some extra repairs (winter was hard on the bikes):
- Drill & wire to secure Felix’s front fender
- Loosen, sand off rust, and lube Nolan’s frozen suspension
- Replace Lara’s rear brake cable and first section of sheath
- Repair (hopefully) LLK’s kickstand with hose clamp
- Sand off rust, and lube, Neil’s mini pump
A busy weekend indeed. You sure get your moneys worth out of the bikes! XO x5
I gave up on major repairs. The salt of winter would be hard on moving parts. It is necessary to have bikes tuned up. Joan took her road-bike to Gearheads (Petawawa) likely $100 plus parts yearly. My bike will go at the end of summer.
With five bikes to care for, I’ll keep doing my own tune-ups for now 🙂
