We had no idea there were so many different types of pickled olives! Why pickle them? Because without pickling, they are crazy BITTER! Pickling removes oleuropein (the compound that causes the bitter flavour).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/agaaga.khoolbrew.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_9840.jpg?w=1032&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4695\" \/><figcaption>They also sold pickled garlic which we didn&#8217;t try.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/agaaga.khoolbrew.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/img_9854.jpg?w=1032&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4697\" \/><figcaption>We bought 3 different kinds of olives to try and each type had a distinctly unique flavour. The kids never liked olives back home because they said all you taste is salt.
