About a week ago (Oct 23), Nolan stubbed his toe badly while running up the stairs. The next day, he ran 5K in the City Championships<\/a>. And then yesterday (Oct 29), we all went for a 10km hike with friends. At the end of the hike, he said his knee hurt (this<\/a>, we know about, and know the treatment), and his toe was very painful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then we had this conversation while he was at school:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The verdict was to get it checked out at Emerg immediately after school. We arrived shortly after 4PM and were triaged at three levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:32PM. About to see a doctor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

6:48PM. XRay waiting room.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If those areas look familiar, it’s because we’ve been here before for his wrist<\/a> and his hand<\/a>. At 7:34PM we were done and waiting for a ride home. [The only sign of Halloween was one nurse who was wearing a witch’s hat.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final verdict: everything is fine, there is no break. The emerg doctor said even if the toe was broken, they wouldn’t do anything anyway (no boot or cast). He said if it was still really hurting in 10 days, he could come back for another xray. It’s possible the new xray would show a line (from calcification) – even then, it’d be just “oh look, it was broken” and they wouldn’t do anything.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
