Every time we’re in Leith, we walk the beach and bring home glass that has been washed up. We finally did something with it. First step was googling for some ideas, then we got to work.

Tree top trekking
Felix had a fun outdoor birthday party on the weekend. I made a huge mistake by not reading carefully, and we arrived at the first Tree Top Trekking site only to discover that it was the wrong one. It was going to be a 50km drive to the correct one! AAARRRGH! On a side note, […]
Happy Halloween
Things progressed over the next several hours. The finished products: For Halloween night, Lara had plans to go out with a couple of her friends. She didn’t want to actually get any candy, nor did she dress up, she just wanted to be with her friends, be outside, and see the decorations. The boys stayed […]
Neighbourhood recycling
While out for a walk in our neighbourhood, Neil and I encountered a homeowner putting out a dining table and chairs at the end of his driveway. We had been talking about replacing the brown chairs with something lighter coloured for a couple of years (we got the brown chairs for free when we bought […]
Harvesting fingerlings
Our friends in the neighbourhood have an organic urban farm and when we walked over to pick up some fresh veggies, Felix got to harvest some fingerling potatoes.
Cirque du Sore Legs
The first event after school starts is usually the Terry Fox run. Nolan’s high school ran a little competition. The kids could do individual and/or group runs, and the “event” lasted 5 days (Saturday to Wednesday). Nolan decided to form a group with his friends.
Cherry picking
Some friends invited us over for cherry picking. Lara was feeling under the weather from her second dose, and Nolan and Neil were out on an errand, so Felix and I biked over.
Bike fall and infection
Continuing the injury theme (stitches and concussion), the day after Felix received his concussion, Nolan asked Neil to do some bike jumps for a school project. A month later (Jul 20), the shoulder still hasn’t healed. He saw the doctor and the doctor thought that Neil had sprained it.
Stitches are out
Warning: Some grisly images ahead. This is how the Pruning shears and 5 stitches story progresses and ends. The one major side effect to this was that we had to delay his Grade 8 piano exam, which was originally scheduled for June 15. The next soonest time slot for a remote exam was Jul 15. […]
Ride for Heart 2021
This year’s ride was another virtual one, and the route was to be heart shaped. We invited another family to join us for the ride. Despite the heat, the ride was loads of fun and we got to see some new sights in the city! It was shortly after 10AM when we completed the loop. […]
