The Putty Knife

We’re currently staying in a Muslim neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur, which means being woken just before 6 each morning by the muezzins proclaiming the call to prayer via loudspeakers. Despite being on the 43rd floor of the building, the chants are loud and clear.

On the bright side, this means delicious fresh roti canai for breakfast and where we discovered how useful a putty knife can be as a kitchen tool.

It’s being used to flip the roti.
And to cut the bananas.
A few days later, we found putty knives in the housewares section of a store.

  1. We’ll have to get different ones for Mommy. Pa may not be the happiest if you start using his special 20-years-old “if you rust this you’re doomed” putty knives to cut bananas and flip pancakes.
