Port Royal was founded by the French in 1649. It was conquered by the British in 1762, and they renamed the town “St George’s” in honour of King George III. St George’s is the capital of Grenada and a short drive from our airbnb. We spent a couple of hours exploring the small capital. Some […]

Palm Tree Gardens
A 45 minute squiggly ride from home is Palm Tree Gardens. It was started as a hobby by Grenadian Lawrence Lambert, who collected plants on his travels and grew them on his 2-acre property. It is reputed to contain over 300 species of plants, and almost 40 types of palms. One fascinating thing was that […]
Seven Sisters Falls
While we were at Grand Etang Park, we decided to do the hike to visit the Seven Sisters Falls (aka St. Margaret Falls).
Grand Etang
We eventually found our way to Grand Etang Natural Park after the detour at Shodoo Falls. The park contains Grand Etang Lake (“Big Pond Lake”), which is a water-filled crater of a 12,000 year old extinct volcano.
Shodoo Falls
On our drive to Grand Etang National Park, we got a bit off course. As we were driving over a bridge looking for a place to turn around, we looked over and spotted a waterfall, with a convenient area to park right beside it. We overhead a tour van driver say to his load of […]
Fort Jeudy Point
For Christmas, Nolan chipped in with us to purchase a used drone from kijiji. He brought it to Grenada and was keen to try it out. Unfortunately, our airbnb is too close to the airport for him to fly there, so he asked to be taken to Fort Jeudy Point for drone flying.
Grand Anse Beach
One of the most popular beaches of Grenada is Grand Anse Beach. It’s 3 km of soft powdery beach, on the Caribbean side of the island. It was the first beach we visited, the day after we arrived in Grenada.
Grenada – getting there
We were booked on the 10:15 AM to Grenada on Sunwing on Christmas Day, and a large snowstorm was predicted a couple of days before Dec 25. The weather cooperated, so we arrived at the airport the usual 3 hours prior to departure. For multiple trips now, we’ve been taking only carry-on, but due to […]
Memory Tree
We began our family tradition for “Christmas dinner” in 2020 with the All Day Nibbles. This year, we decided to progress on our memory tree. We have a number of Travel ornaments, and hope to add lots more! We plan to update this post yearly as we add to the tree.
