Our stay in Nafplio

We spent 6 days in the city of Nafplio and visited a couple of its beaches, explored its centre, and roamed two of its fortresses, Palamidi and Akronafplia. Where did we stay and how was day-to-day life?

We stayed in an two-bedroom apartment that was a short walk to the peninsula. Our very first adventure was when we attempted to access the parking space that came with the apartment. We parked on the street for the duration of our stay.
One of the nice things in the apartment was the wraparound balcony. It was narrow, but a great spot from which to watch the locals live their lives.
We could access the balcony from the living room, the kitchen, and the master bedroom. We also used it to dry our laundry.
Felix even found a bird’s egg.

Due to some technical issues, we lost a bunch of photos and movies. Fortunately, Lara had been FaceTiming with Aunt Mary, and showed her around, and so we have the following pictures of the apartment thanks to Lara.

Facing the entrance to the apartment. We never ate at this dining room table, this space was our storage zone. 🙂
Off the dining room (on the left) and the living room (on the right) a hallway leads to the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms.
Second small bathroom. The main bathroom had the shower and the washer. We came to really appreciate the rentals that had two bathrooms (almost all had one bathroom).
The kids’ bedroom. I think Neil slept in the top bunk a couple of nights, while a kids slept with me in the other bedroom. The door to the room squealed atrociously, and it got louder over time. We finally resorted to pouring olive oil through a funnel on the hinges to resolve the issue – too bad we lost the video of that.
Our kitchen. Space is tight, but for some reason, we ate all our meals here, squished around the little table.
One of the decent and inexpensive gelato places we found tucked away on a side street.
Lidl was our goto grocery store. We had to talk Lara out of these giant drill bits!

The coolest thing we found was the bread slicer, for use by customers, in the grocery stores.

Definitely don’t want any body parts in there while it’s functioning!
