Our house

In September 2004, Neil and I started looking for houses after selling my condo and subletting a one-bedroom apartment at Yonge and Davisville. We started our search for our new home in the East York area and here’s a sampling of what we viewed.

I wasn’t keen on the area: street parking, a 30+ min drive to work, and the houses felt very small (smaller square footage than my sold condo). There were numerous ‘what-have-I-done’ thoughts while we were checking out these houses. 😳

Eventually, we started looking in the North York area, which had driveways, a 15 min drive to work, and the houses felt a little more spacious (though similar in square footage to my sold condo). These are the photos from ‘House Inspection Day’ of what we actually bought.

Living room.
Main floor (and only) bathroom. The original owner raised 4 kids in this house. We discovered later that there were TWO layers of carpet in here 🤮
Views of the front of the house.
Looking down to the basement. The stairs were pretty treacherous.

  1. Aren’t you glad you bought it now! I thought it was overpriced at the time! I was so wrong!
