Here’s a small sample of what we ate while in Seville. Even though we only ate out a couple of times, we were able to sample quite a few new foods!
The kids were amazing about helping out in the tiny kitchen. First homemade meal after 30 hours of travel was pasta and meat sauce with picante (spicy) pimento and a salad on the side. The red wine was about €3 a bottle – whee!Black pasta (squid ink) with spinach and tomatoesReady to eat pulpo (octopus). Just heat, pour some olive oil over it and sprinkle with pimenton (Spanish paprika). Yummy – this was Nolan’s favourite.Neil’s lunch: cooked chicken, fried mushrooms and salad on a fresh whole wheat bun. We buy fresh buns or loaves daily (often still warm from the oven).Lentils with chorizo (Lentejas Con Chorizo) with pan friend merluza (hake). Merluza has become everyone’s favourite fish – it’s so buttery and tender. Fresh figs for snacks and desserts.Merluza, potatoes in olive oil, pimento padronsFresh clams fried with some gingerClams, pan fried bacalao (cod), saffron brown rice, steamed broccoli. One of our €3 bottles of wine.Starting off the day with fresh orange juice!Standard breakfast of fresh bread with olive oil, fresh avocado, fresh juice. …EVIL Mama 🙂Neil’s red wine, not Nolan’s 🙂Kids working on dinnerFrying up clamsPeeling shrimp …to add to other fresh seafood …For risotto de mariscos (seafood risotto)Kids traded gelatos for these smoothies. There were other flavours, but this was everyone’s favourite: apple, mango, banana, orange, passion fruit, peach, and lemon. After getting home from a day’s outing, they headed for the smoothies.Frequent helping with dinner.Team juicing.Fresh flat green beans – super tasty fried up in a bit of garlic and olive oil.Thick churros (top) were more doughy while the thin churros (bottom) were light and crispy. We shared these often as a snack while we were out.Our selection of smoothies.Of course, we can’t forget about the jamón ibérico ham. We mostly had jamón serrano as it was significantly more economical and was still super tasty.
