Eco-Friendly Plates

While in Cameron Highlands, we had an interesting and yummy dinner at Yash Banana Leaf restaurant (Lara missed this experience as she had just caught the colds that Neil and I had).

After placing our order, the server placed banana leaves in front of each of us.
And then he proceeded to ladle food onto the banana leaves. The base is a papadum, rice, three different kinds of vegetables (dahl, potato and peas, and eggplant) and a soup. Note the sweater and long sleeves (it was about 18°C).
The boys ordered meat to go with their base meal – they were large portions! I ordered roti canai as my side. The soup is actually in those metal shot glasses.
Nolan ordered an additional side of roti filled with cheese (a slice of American cheese), which was tasty.
You told the server how much rice you wanted – Felix was hungry! His comment on drinking his soup: “A whole bunch of flavours burst in your mouth!”.
Dessert was “roti tissue” drizzled with chocolate sauce. It’s roti canai that’s in a single layer (instead of folded up) so it’s nice and crispy.
