Ride for Heart 2021

This year’s ride was another virtual one, and the route was to be heart shaped. We invited another family to join us for the ride. Despite the heat, the ride was loads of fun and we got to see some new sights in the city!

Neil’s planned route. There was extreme heat forecasted for the day, so we had planned to depart at 7AM. We actually left at 7:45AM, and it was already HOT! With the humidity, it felt like 33°C.
This is our group. 10 in total, with kids outnumbering the adults.
One of the set of stairs we had to climb. Our kids scooted up quickly with their bikes, then ran down to help the others.
We rode through an empty Go station that was under construction.
The second set of stairs we climbed, to cross over top the tracks and construction site.
View down the stairs – the unexpected weight training portion of our ride 😳
At the end of that, we popped out into a very nice little neighbourhood with a number of mansions.
Under the 401.
Intersections are a great time to do a head count!
Our actual route – 18.7 km. We missed the turn for the top of the heart, so we’re calling it an “anatomically heart shaped” route. 😂

It was shortly after 10AM when we completed the loop. With the humidity, it felt like 35°C and the younger members of the group were melting, so we called it quits for the day.

After a snack and quick shower, the kids got to cool off even more in the pool.
This is what physically distanced pool play looks like. 😊
Playing follow the leader.

  1. Lots of stairs, but avoided the busiest roads. Well done everyone. Good photo of Nolan’s levitation technique.
